R. Gordon R. McInally, President 2023-2024

R. Gordon R. McInally, an esteemed member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, Scotland, received his education at the prestigious Royal High School in Edinburgh. He further pursued his academic journey at the University of Dundee, where he attained a graduate degree in dental surgery. For several years, he successfully operated his own dental practice in Edinburgh until 2016.

McInally’s expertise and dedication extend beyond his dental profession. He has held the esteemed position of Chair of the East of Scotland branch of the British Paedodontic Society, showcasing his commitment to advancing dental care for children. Additionally, he has held various esteemed academic roles, contributing to the growth and development of dental education.

Outside of his professional pursuits, McInally has actively served his community and church. He has taken on significant responsibilities, including serving as a presbytery elder, chairing the Queensferry parish congregational board, and assuming the role of a commissioner to the general assembly of the Church of Scotland. Through his multifaceted involvement, McInally has exemplified the spirit of service and community engagement.

At the youthful age of 26, R. Gordon R. McInally became a member of Rotary in 1984. He actively participates as a valued member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry. Over the years, he has assumed prominent leadership roles within Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, including serving as both president and vice president.

McInally’s dedication and commitment to Rotary extend beyond his presidency. He has contributed significantly to the growth and development of Rotary International, serving as a director and lending his expertise to various committees. Most recently, he served as an adviser to the 2022 Houston Convention Committee and held the esteemed position of chair of the Operations Review Committee. Through these roles, McInally has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to advancing Rotary’s mission and enhancing its operations for the benefit of members and the communities they serve.

McInally eagerly anticipates collaborating with fellow members to establish new Rotary clubs and groups, aiming to broaden Rotary’s presence. He envisions a Rotary that transcends geographical boundaries, catering to diverse styles and preferences of those who share a desire to make a positive impact in the world.

Beyond his Rotary involvement, McInally holds significant roles in various charitable organizations. As a patron of the UK-based nonprofit Hope and Homes for Children, he has led a partnership between the organization and RIBI to provide support to children in Rwanda who were orphaned during the tragic genocide. Additionally, McInally serves as a patron of Trade-Aid, an initiative spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven in England, focusing on delivering sustainable humanitarian aid to individuals, families, and businesses in developing nations. Moreover, he serves as an ambassador for Bipolar UK, a renowned national mental health organization.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to peace, McInally was honored as a laureate of the Sino Phil Asia International Peace Awards Foundation in August 2022. This prestigious accolade further highlights his dedication to fostering peace and goodwill on an international scale.

During his leisure time, McInally finds joy in various pursuits, including rugby, savoring delightful food and wine, and indulging in stick dressing, an age-old Scottish craft focused on crafting intricate walking sticks.

Recognizing the pivotal role of The Rotary Foundation, McInally aptly describes it as the driving force that empowers Rotary’s service endeavors. Both he and his spouse, Heather, who is also an active Rotarian, embody their commitment to Rotary’s values through their philanthropic support. They hold esteemed titles such as Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors, Benefactors of The Rotary Foundation, and are esteemed members of the Bequest Society.

McInally’s overarching vision for his presidency is to create a world that offers an optimal environment for growth, fulfillment, and prosperity for his granddaughters, Ivy and Florence, as well as all the children across the globe. With an unwavering dedication to service, he aims to leave a lasting impact, ensuring a brighter future for the generations to come.
